About
Hi, I’m Cheyenne Johns, a registered Clinical Psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychology Society (APS). I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families across a range of settings including Child Protection, Department of Justice, and private practice.
I use a range of evidence-based interventions including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and work from a trauma informed perspective. I take an eclectic approach with these interventions which allows me to provide individualised care to cater to your needs.
I understand how daunting it can be for children, adolescents and adults to engage in therapy and therefore place significant importance on creating an environment where people can feel safe. I use a client-centered approach that focuses on meeting the client where they are at, taking the time to understand their unique struggles or difficulties in order to help them improve their well-being and reach their full potential.
I am interested in helping children and adolescents who may be struggling in the school setting, working with children and adolescents who have experienced attachment disruption, anxiety, depression, grief, complex trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties and adjustment issues. I also have a particular interest in men's health, especially working with men who have been resistant to engaging in therapy in the past.
